BF250 after running out of gas. It will not start.

FYI: Using ether to fire these engines (or most any 4-stroke gasoline engine) is a really bad idea.

You very well may have an air block in your fuel line or external fuel/water separator. Pump up the primer bulb until it gets hard. Open up the drain on the F/W separator and drain out a bit of fuel to relieve pressure.

Check that you have fuel in you onboard F/W separator and LP fuel filter. If not, you likely have a blockage in the fuel lines between the primer bulb and the onboard F/W separator. If so, disconnect the incoming fuel line to the onboard F/W separator, pump the primer bulb again and see if you have free flowing fuel coming out of that line.

Drain the VST per owner's manual.

Hopefully you didn't burn out your fuel pump. With engine cover off, have someone turn on the key switch and listen to see if the fuel pump runs for about 2 seconds. If not, first check your fuses.

If fuel pump activates, loosen the fuel pressure relief bolt on top of the HP fuel filter - don't remove it, just loosen it. Have someone activate the key switch again and see if you get fuel coming out around the bolt. If so, then disconnect the fuel line from the HP fuel pump to the fuel pressure regulator and see if you get fuel there.

If no fuel comes out around the fuel pressure relief bolt, back up to the low pressure fuel pump. Disconnect the out going fuel line and hook up hose to go into a jar. Have someone crank the engine with the kill switch activated. See if the LP pump is pumping fuel at a good clip. If so, do the same thing at the outlet at the fuel cut off valve that is between the LP fuel pump and the VST. If no output there, bypass the cutoff valve and see if engine starts. If it does, replace the cutoff valve.
