BF150 Crank End Play

I have seen a couple of threads discussing this situation. However in my case although the crank has dropped down allowing the alternator drive pully to wear down the crank postion sensor and some of the timing chain cover. Therefore the thrust washers/bearings are not working as designed. But additionally I have no metal in the oil or any in the bottom of the oil pan (viewed by a camera). While engine running in open water have good oil pressure and evidence of the VTEC system engaging properly.
So now for my question, how does the vertical movement of the crank cause excessive temperatures in the Exhaust gases/ Exhaust Manifold? The exhaust manifold thermostat casuses the ECM to the throw an overheating alarm with subsequent engine shutdown
I just don't follow the connection between the two.

So help is greatly appreciated
Paul
