Hello Folks, chasing a ghost on a 2017BF150A Honda. I have a problem where after running the boat for a while turn off engine come back an hour later crank but won’t start. It will eventually crank wants engine cools down. When it does start boat runs like a champ. I can recreate the issue pretty easily. Ride for 20 min engine gets hot turn it off let it sit for an hour won’t start.

There is spark which led us down a fuel problem or cooling issue

Brand new impeller
All fuel filters replaced
New Batteries
New fuel lines
Replaced neutral switch and throttle
Replaced main fuel relay
New Ingestion switch and key ( Thought it was electrical)

Latest diagnosis maybe a vapor lock issue which lead to all new fuel lines and filters. Through darts at this point. I have found some threads about a potential issue with the high pressure fuel pump. Not sure if the boat would run great after start with a high pressure fuel pump issue or not. Any ideas ?

I have same problem with a 60hp Honda. After I run it awhile and turn it off for a few minutes it will crank, but won't start. Replaced emergency kill switch, but problem still there. Seems like it is not getting spark.

Bigya,

Very strange indeed!

I have questions.....
Will it be ok for a longer run like 30-40 minutes without shutting down?

No alarms? Warning lights?

What happens if you shut it off for, say, only 5 or 10 minutes? Will it restart then?

Any possibility that you could get an infrared temp gun and see how hot it's actually getting?

This does sound like it could be a vapor lock condition. I don't know.

You may need to check the fuel cooler and hoses for blockage.

Item 12 in the link.

Good luck.

Check the VST water cooling chamber is flowing water through it. It could be blocked & allowing the fuel to vaporize causing a no-start?

I run mine for about 20 to 30 minutes, shut it off for 20 to 30 minutes and then occasionally it won't re-start. Won't even cough. No warning lights or alarms. No indication that the motor is too hot. Seems like in 20-30 minutes it would cool enough to eliminate vapor lock.

Art,
Start you're own thread. Lots of 60hp guys on here so you'll probably get more help that way.
