bay extension

I have a 99 15 horse, the shaft extension hits a bushing or something about 3 inches below the powerhead. Is this a bushing I could punch out or do I have to remove the powerhead and drill it out?
Hopefully someone has done this and knows the answer.

Or maybe remove powerhead, add the extension then replace powerhead ?

I would think someone has installed one
