Battery not charging

I have a mercruiser 60 bigfoot outboard motor on a pontoon boat and it has stopped charging the battery. In doing some research on the matter I'm pretty sure that the problem is with the voltage regulator, the rectifer, and/or the stator. My question is, which is the likely culprit and how hard is it to changet hese parts out myself? Thanks for any help anyone can give.

http://www.myoutboardengine.com/rectifier.html If the engine runs good but doesn'y charge the battery then suspect the rectifier. Do you have a voltmeter? What does it read when the engine runs?

Where do I measure with volt meter

Right at the battery...you should see 12.5-13.0 volts at idle. Voltage should increase to a max. of 14.5 volts as you increase RPM to 1500.

With battery disconnected or not

Not. Measure the battery first for a reference then start it and measure the voltage.

Just a quick note. I found a blown and melted fuse in line with the voltage regulator/rectifier. I changed it and the voltage regulator/rectifier and everything is working fine now. Thank you very much for taking the time to help me out with this. I really appreciate it.
