"Anyone else have an autopilot

"Anyone else have an autopilot on an outboard application with my problem? The linear followers (mounted on the outboard) eventually suck water (from salt spray etc) past the shaft seals and the unit dies. I have a solution! Teleflex offers a liquid tie bar valve that allows 2 hydraulic cylinders to operate either together or isolate one and have only one operate. My idea is to buy a second cylinder and the liquid valve. The 2nd cylinder is mounted somewhere DRY and the linear follower is attached to it. When the 2 cylinders are aligned with one another the 2nd will replicate the rudder position to the follower. As you turn the helm both cylinders are in sinc. They may wonder out of exact sinc over time. That is easily adjusted by turning the liquid valve (so only #1 cylinder moves) and turning the helm until they line up again, then turn valve back to run both cylinders."
