I have bought a 1993 Sylvan 209 with a 5.0 LX/V8 Alpha One motor. The boat has had the lower
unit knocked off, I am looking for help on what gear ratio is needed. I have the following info.
Engine# OD828478
Transom# OD773413
Drive# OD777385
Boat# SLY93558F293
Thank you for any help. Matt

When you're complete drive was sold new, the gear ratio was 1.50:1. (DRV: 0D777385 Model number 5010150FS MERCRUISER ALPHA 1.50:1)

Aren't Gen Two drives for a 5.0 1.62:1?
Yes you are correct, the 5.0l engine had a 1.65:1, (Now a 1.62:1 ratio due to the lower unit having gear case gears count of 13-21, See 3'rd link down), But since he has a 5.0LX engine, Merc put in the 1.50:1 ratio as a standard ratio, Then for high altitude running with the LX model, Merc recommended putting in the 1.65:1 or 1.84:1 depending on boat size & elevation.

(5.0L
w/1.65 No Change No Change 1.84:1 1.84:1,) (5.0LX w/1.50 No Change 1.65:1 1.84:1 1.84:1)

The boat has had the lower unit knocked off...
Do you mean it has been in a collision or just removed? SEI makes a decent aftermarket L/U. The whole OD could be replaced for the cost of a Merc. L/U. I believe it has a 3 yr "No questions asked" warranty. I don't work for SEI or own any stock...just providing info. If the OD was in a collision the upper unit and gimbal assy. will need a close inspection for damage.
