When it is at full throttle it is louder than a bear with it's tail in a trap. Is there anything other than insulating the cover that can tone it down. Does anyone know what the four screw holes on the front of the carburetor are for? Is there something like an air cleaner that I can add on that would help with the noise? I have read about carb silencers but was told their only put on the bigger engines.

There is no airbox or air cleaner for that motor and don't put one on.. I put dynomat on the inside of the hood in front of the carb and works really well. There are a lot of different sound deadening mats that will work. DO NOT PUT INSULATION IN THERE! It can fall off and get sucked into the motor.

Right, Mr. Scott. Insulation is a huge problem as it breaks down from fuel/oil residue and eventually mice. Gets sucked in and sometimes hangs up in the reeds. It's a 2 stroke motor, no air silencer. Gonna be loud when cruising.
