Just picked up a 94 mercury 40hp 2 stroke 4cyl.
Previous guy put a carb rebuild kit on it, I believe it was not a oem kit (could be my problem)
Motor starts sometimes and if it does start will not idle for long you can rev it up a little to keep it running but will sit there and miss fire and buck and all sorts not sure as to where to go on what to change or how to diagnose on these engines any information will help.
Guy I bought it from I know and it ran great then started dieing on him which lead to him put rebuild kit on and has never been back to normal yet
All 4cyl read 120psi
New fuel lines and filter
There is spark but not sure if at the right timing
Both carbs are sucking air so not reeds
