Help,
I am in the process of removing everything to take the powerhead off.
I am ready but cant get the powerhead off. I have followed the manual
but it does not show me how to remove the intermediate cover so I can
get to the bolts to remove the powerhead.
I dont see anything else to remove. Anyone have any drawings etc?
Thanks

You don't say what size engine, but look under the the cover , there are four s/s screws holding it in place

The motor is a 40 horsepower. I have taken out the four bolts inside next to the motor. I took off the 2 bolts
on the ouside intermediate housing. If I push up a little the intermediate housing starts to separate from the bottom housing
underneath the motor.
I am not seeing any other bolts to take off. The motor is 40 hp mariner serial model number 676B410155.
Thanks

That number makes it a bit older than '88.You have a Yamaha built Mariner. There should be four 10mm bolts inside the pan allowing the pan to separate and show the powerhead bolts. One of them can be seen under the powerhead in pic.The other three are at opposite sides

You must remove the 8 bolts that come up through the drive shaft housing, and remove the power head to take the lower cowl off. Once you get the power head off you'll want to get the cowl off to clean up the exhaust plate and replace the gaskets (that's why it comes off).
