81 15hp wont shift to forward

shifts fine into reverse. What to check 1st?

Thanks. I'll have to purchase a manual to proceed. Now I know where to start.

Checked gear oil ?-----Did this happen suddenly ??----Checked the prop ?----Hub inside prop could be slipping.

Will check gear oil level. Seemed sudden. Was fine, made a short beach stop, started right up, won't stay in forward, stays in reverse, prop hub seems fine, can't make it slip when in reverse. Just won't positively click into forward. Manual is on its way. Thanks.

Hopefully its just out of adjusment or a bent shift rod but most of the ones ive had to fix was a rounded clutch dog for me its no big deal on my personal motors i just weld em up and grind back to shape does it kick out of forward or just wont engage at all

Look at the brass connector

Clutch dog on early models has 2 lugs.----Imroved to 3 in 1985?
