80"s 50hp 3cyl thermostat?

Asking for a friend. Does this motor have a thermostat in it? He says it is slow to piss and it ain't much when it does. Already did water impeller.

I have a '86 - 60 hp 3 cylinder and it does not have a thermostat. The mid 80's 3 cylinder 50s are the same.

Due to cooling issues, I believe Mercury dealers removed all the thermostats from the early triples.
