Hard to get motor started. Seems like high speed jet not working. Can run at low speeds but when I try to go faster it dies back
 
Model # is ?----2 steps to take.-----Post the actual compression values.-----And does spark jump a gap of 1/4" or more on a test device, yes or no?-----How did the motor run for you last season?----Or did this motor sit for 20 years in a shed ?----Sounds like it might be running on 1 cylinder.
 
Model # CD-24D, serial# J2721498. I don't have compression gauge. haven't checked spark. it has run this way for 15 years.
 
That would be a 1967 JOHNSON model going by the model #----For 15 years you have put up with this fine motor running poorly ??-----Time to do some simple trouble shooting.----Compression tester is about $40 or rent / borrow one.----Most important test to do.
