4.3 With carb 1997

1997 4.3 With carb, starts fine when cold, runs good for hour or two while skiing, starts fine while switching skiers then we stop and swim for an hour, engine starts but within a 1,000 ft or so, it dies and strong odor of gas, very hard to start, most of the time it does start but a couple of times it doesn’t. When does start, runs fine the rest of the day. My two local mechanics are at a loss.
