3.0l interchangeability

I have a 2000 seaswirl 175 that has a 3.0l volvo penta engine that needs replacing. Can anyone tell me which years are easily interchangeable and if I can use a mercuiser 3.0 easily? If so which years. Got this boat as a project with no outdrive and a bad engine. But super clean on a trailer. Trying to get it going for summer.

Ayuh,..... As far as Volvo, vs: Merc, the Long Blocks are exactly the same,.....

The rear main seal change was I believe in 1990, so anything newer will be an easy swap,....
