290 dp e outdrive

I have a Volvo penta outdrive a 290 dp e
the top box is broken gear badly bent it’s a 22 teeth big gear,
my question is can a top box from a 280 dp fit onto my 290 dp drive ?

or there is a 290 single prop for sale could the top box be a replacement for my 290 dp e ?

How did that gear get broken??? Hard to think of what would do that and not have other damage...

was doing about 34 knots and a sudden bang !
broke the bolt holding the gear to drive shaft and bent
the gear also big bearing broken , there was a tiny amount
of water in outdrive .

The bottom half is perfect no damage the propellers are perfect also
