25HP Mercury 4 stroke

I have a 2007 Mercury 25HP 4 stroke electronic ignition. It need a new fuel filter. It is the type where the sight glass unscrews to reveal a small cartridge. Mercury dealers tell me I must buy the whole assembly instead of just the cartridge for $75. Does anybody know where to get just the cartridge? Thanks

$75...?? I'd be inclined to use one of the disposable inline filters for < $10 (last time I bought one)...

You can always take apart what you have and see if the element has a part number on it...else measure the element and then search the Filter OEM catalogs...
