2012 5.0 Mercruiser Cut out at High RPM

[Boating fun]

I have a 5.0 Mercruiser that cuts out at high RPM. Its starts and runs great up too about 4500 RPM. Any suggestions.

Does it completely die, without recovery,..??

Change the fuel filter, 'n inspect the contents of the old one for water, 'n crap,....
