2006 225 etec starts then dies

I have a family friends 2006 basscat puma with 225 etec motor. I can get it to start right up but then 2-3 seconds later it dies. Will not restart tight away. After I let it sit for a few min it will fire right up again and then die right away. I have drained fuel out of tanks and tried putting new fuel in 1 of the tanks and same thing happens.

I got it running. Found electric choke was not closing. Freed it up and it fired right up.

Etec's don't have chokes.....what did you free????
