2004 2.5hp Lower Unit Removal???

Hi all,

I'm trying to replace the impeller on a little 2.5hp yamaha F2.5MSHC. The lower unit slides down about 1/2 inch, but seems linked to the shifter or something, and won't slide all the way out. I removed the prop and spindle in the gear housing, removed the bolts holding the lower unit, and there is resistance holding the lower unit in -- beyond 1/2 inch of play. Looked at the gear shifter area and under the carb... don't see any obvious pins or bolts here.

Ideas?

There should be 2 round rubber boots on the uppercase housing that need to be pried off to access the linkage shift connector. Loosen the screw and it will slide out.

That was the trick. loosened screw/clamp holding linkage rods together, then the lower unit slid out without issue. New impeller installed, and pumping great!
