I am a mechanic but I would like some extra advice on this one.
A customer complained that his 2003 Merc. 60 EFI 4 stroke would die after going into gear. I found that it actually had a badly maladjusted throttle cable but after setting it right it would still stumble badly with any throttle movement. I could feather it and cause it to pickup and run well. Harsh throttle movements are worse.
I have considered both the MAP sensor on the airbox or the IAC. I'm inclined towards the MAP sensor but I do not have access to the boat to check it all out again without charging the customer more, and I would rather save him a little money.
