2002 Evinrude 75. Tach signal info please

Bought this boat recently and the tach has never worked. I have never owed a fuel injected outboard before.. Anyhow the tach is not working. PO said it was working last year for what that it worth. Anyhow where does the tach signal originate on this motor? The tach has power ( all the idiot lights come on and cycle with the key) . But will not register RPMS.

Ok any information on where to start diagnosing it? I will be back home Saturday so I am trying to get my ducks in a row to troubleshoot is.

Ok so your suggesting the tach itself is the issue. Any way to verify that?
