2.3 omc cobra

I have a 1989 2.3 omc cobra, my problem is I took it out and it started and ran fine for about 10 miniutes then it sort of back fired and quit. When I try to start it it will not start but occaisionally it will backfire and a few times it tried to start but didnt.
If anybody could suggest what my problem could be before I take it to the marina would be appreciated

I don't know if this is the case for you, but I had the same symptoms you have and it turned out to be my check ball in my pickup tube on top of the gas tank. I replaced the fitting and it solved my problem. Hope this helps you.
