1999 Mariner 50hp 4 stroke linkage help.

Hi guys, working on this motor for a friend. I think the roller that rides on the Auto start linkage is on the wrong side. The little white roller falls off and drops, gets stuck on the left side of the linkage. I have the service manual but I don’t see where this can be adjusted.

here is a picture of the roller on top of the linkage. is it supposed to be on top or on the left side?

Here is a picture after it cools off. The roller falls off the left side. And gets caught on left side of the auto start linkage

I have looked at linkage on some videos and have seen the roller to the left and on top of the linkage. my guess would be the solenoid 97685T- the one with the long spring, is supposed to pull it up there? The solenoid pulls the choke shutter shut at startup of a second then releases when motor fires. I checked with test light to see if current was still coming after the solenoid released but the current stops at startup for the spring solenoid.
