1999 Honda 130hp- hour meter?

I don’t have an hour meter on my outboard and am wondering the easiest way to add a simple one that works off my key switch power or some other method that someone might recommend. I’m picturing an LCD type dash mounted or even installed under the engine cowling, pulling key on only power. Or maybe off whatever is triggering the tach.

Any help is appreciated on which sort of hour meter to buy and how to wire it.

Thanks,
Don

Not hard at all. If you have a tachometer, you could steal/borrow both the 12v and ground signals you need for an hour meter from the back of that. Same at the back of the ign. switch. Lots of options. The easiest one not visible from where I'm sitting!

If you have a standard honda gauge harness there will be a spare black/yellow (ignition pos) and a black (neg). Just connect them to a standard hour meter

Thanks, I’ll check, but I have a standard Honda ignition and tach, so likely have the harness too.

Is that a standard Honda hour meter? Or just any marine hour meter.

Any hour meter will need 12v and a ground wire. If you have a Honda hour meter, and the right harness, you can just plug the hour meter in.
