1999 70HP Johnson Ignition Issues

My 70 HP Johnson has spark at times and other times it doesn't. When it has spark it starts and runs fine. Sometimes when you shut it off and try to start it again the spark is gone. Any suggestions? Possible the power pack?

You can spend $$ on parts if you like.-----Or some simple testing.----Have your battery load tested ( even if new ) -----Take starter apart for inspection and ohm check on armature.-----Possibly new brushes.----Inspect battery cables and clean the connections.

How do you know spark is gone?

As racerone said, eliminate simple stuff 1st. Battery crank speed, neutral safety switch, kill switch or ignition switch.

It has a new battery and battery has been load tested. I replaced the battery cables & the starter, engine started up and ran fine. Went out the next day to try it again & it wouldn't start. Checked for spark and had no spark. Ideas please.
