1997 Tracker Force 40 HP Wire Harness plug shorting out

The plug on the engine wire harness is losing connectivity. Boat place said I could try to expand the male
end prongs?

Yes expand the male ends.
Clean both of the ends and then use di-electric grease on the connections and seal it up so no water/dirt get in there.
