Help!
This engine hasn't been run in two years, and it was not properly winterized after it's last use. I cleaned out the carb, rebuilt the fuel pump. New plugs, compression's okay, made sure to run fresh gas through. I finally got it started, and it would run but not stay running. Began to notice that water didn't seem to be circulating through, as I couldn't get a steady stream coming from the discharge port. So, I figured I should check the water pump. It definitely needs attention. I have two questions I hope someone can help me with-
1) Underneath the housing for the impeller, there sits the gear housing seal. This looks really bad. Corroded, I guess. I'm going to try and upload a picture. Anyway, I'm having a difficult time figuring out how to take this off, and how to go about ordering a replacement. I think its more involved that a seal kit replacement.
2) Could this be the reason why the engine wouldn't stay running?
Thank you to anyone for your help!
