1996 Mariner 75 eats gas & only runs at 3500 rpms

It would only runs at 3500 rpms, carbs are clean, spark is good, I've replaced the switchbox and it still runs slow (3500) however, now it eats gas.....twice the usual amount ! ! !

You replaced the switch box as a guess ???-------------Check for a flooding carburetor!!!-------Check for a ruptured diaphragm in the fuel pump !!!----------------Might as well post the results of a compression test.-------------Check to see that you have spark that will jump a gap of 7/16" at each plug

I like the ruptured fuel pump diaphragm. That would explain it.
