1992 vs 1998 Mercury 90ELPTO exhaust parts compatibility

Hi All

Hoping someone can advise here. I've attached some pics.
I have two motors which I'm using to put together one good one.
Working on the mid section.
The core motor is a 1998 with the one piece hood.
The parts motor is a 1992 with the clamshell.

Unfortunately the exhaust tube plate is badly corroded where the water tube connects to it. So I want to use the exhaust tube from the 1992 - but there are a few differences between the two. It looks like it will bolt up fine to the exhaust housing on the 1998 model, but I'm concerned it will not work due to the design differences on both the housing and exhaust.

Does anyone know if these would work together - perhaps with some modifications?

The 1992 is a small bore 71 ci motor and the 1998 is a 85ci motor. If the 1998 megaphone will bolt to the 1992 adapter plate with no problems then use it and have relief notch welded up

But I want to bolt the 1992 megaphone to the 1998 exhaust adaptor.

No as megaphone is tuned to block....need BB style
