After servicing everything getting ready for season I started motor which would not start without starting fluid. Checked timing and it was very close to 8 degrees Never had this issue so I replaced spark plugs, plug wires, distributer cap and rotor and still not running smooth. So I dumped the fuel and replaced with fresh fuel and still not running smooth. Still hard to start. I replaced the fuel separator and everything seems to run fine now no backfiring or hesitation. Not sure why this would be cause of issue. Taking boat out next weekend hope everything is good.
