I have a seller willing to give me a 14 ft Eldocraft aluminum riveted flatbottom, plus trailer, plus the engine for $350. However this guy crossthreaded one of the sparkplugs while screwing it in, or in his own words "well it started feeling hard to turn but i kept going" and when he pulled the boat out to the dock and tried starting the engine, it blew the sparkplug out and completely stripped out the threads.
I was told there are 2 ways to fix this, one is just to replace the head, or someone told me i could drill out the hole and put something called Helicoil in and that would fix the problem. Which is cheaper and where can I find the parts to fix it? aka the head and or the helicoil repair kit?
