Hello Everyone,
I have a chance to pickup a clean 1988 19' Sunbird, the owner died and the boat has been sitting for 3 years
I went there today and the motor looks clean, hooked up my marine batt and some muffs with the hose, cranked it over and get no spark
Must admit felt like I was seeing a ghost of my life in 1975 when I saw those points under the cap LOL
Anyway the points, condenser, rotor and cap look good, got 12 volts on the pos side of coil, going back Monday with the step by step tests from the service manual (been a few years but after I read the first few steps it started coming back to me LOL)
Anyway if anyone needs the service manual let me know, it is 600 pages in PDF and covers everything!! (1986 - 1998 omc sterndrive manual)
BTW as a side note can anyone confirm the 18-5311 points are just like these:
Standard (Blue Streak) DR-2240X
Delco D108P
GM 1954557
Borg Warner A109V
GP DR695
Echlin CS788P
I read these all cross reference as the same points
One guy said "anything for a 1964 Chevy 6" LOL
Thanks
Joe
