I had my VRO pump replaced about three years ago.
I just got back from a tournament and noticed I
had used a half tank of oil. I topped it off
the night before the trip and only used 11 gal of
gas. I found a broken clamp on the oil line at
the VRO pump. I couldn't force oil past the line
with the priming bulb on the tank. Could this
broken clamp have caused this? thanks

"Ranger5.... I've been waiting for someone else to jump in here that might have encountered the same problem as I've never heard of such a excessive use of oil. You say you used only 11 gallons of gasoline? That engine should have smoked enough to kill every mosquitto in three counties if the oil was being fed through the engine, and frankly if that was taking place, I'm surprised that the engine ran at all.

Could it possibly be that someone needed oil, and "borrowed" oil from your tank? (It happens)

" Thanks for the reply. The rig was locked in garage
the night before the tournament, and was in my sight from the time I left home till I returned.

Doesn't make any sense to me either. The only excessive smoking was at idle, but i wouldn't have
been looking back when running anyway. The engine
was hard to start first thing, but after that no
problem at all. No leaks in tank etc.

I guess I'll just have to take it back to the lake
and see what happens after replacing the broker
