I just recently purchased a 1987 Evinrude 40hp,knowing that the engine wiring harness had wires that were replaced.I uncovered even more wires today, with cracked insulation & some that didn't even have insulation on them,so the whole harness will have to be replaced. My question is,I came across a comple harness,that includes every electrical component, that is in excellent shape,that came off a 1988 Johnson 48hp 2 stroke. Is this harness compatible with my Evinrude? The part numbers on the Johnson electrical components are slightly different, but appear to be visually identical. Any information/advice in this potential transplant of the harness will be greatly appreciated
