1985 Johnson 70hp - quits at low speed

Idles fine and runs fine at higher rpm's. While engine is engaged, it occasionally quits at low rpms and then is difficult to restart. There is no obvious pattern to it quitting at low rpm's

My advice is always the same.-----Post results of a compression test.------And are the 3 carburetor throttle plates CLOSED at idle ?-----Install a new diaphragm in the fuel pump for a possible cheap fix.-----Easy to change the diaphragm.
