1985 260 MR drive water pump torque spec's

I have a 1985 260 merc with a MR drive. I purchased the complete water pump kit (upper and lower pump housing). My Clymer manual states the torques as follows: Nuts: 60-90 In. Lbs. Screw 30-40 in.Lbs.
It also states for the #1 drive for the 1/4-28 nut: 20-30 in. lbs. and the 5/16-24 nut: 35-40 in. lbs.
It also states Late Models; Aft bolt 20-30 ft.lb and aft and foreward nuts 50-60 in. lbs.

I know the torque specs are important because of the plastic housing. The pump housing I took off is distorted because over tightening.
Where can I find the proper torque specs for my MR pump. Clymer's specs seem vague.
It has two 1/4-28 nuts . One 5/16-24 nut and a long screw.

Thanks, Chuck E.

Ayuh,... I don't torque 'em,...
Just run 'em down snug, then abit more, evenly...

Btw,... That 20/ 30 Ft. lbs. is a misprint... in. lbs. maybe...

Bondo,

Thanks for the rapid response. You caught my typo, yup in. lbs. I was concerned about the possible distortion but I will feel comfortable with just snugging them evenly. With nylock nuts they cannot loosen. I made a simple job way to complicated.

Thanks again,
Chuck E.
