1984 Evenrude 30: Turn it down?

Great little motor that's only giving trouble once in the last 11 years. But as I've gotten older, it seems to have gotten LOUDER (I know it's just my hearing is more sensitive.). It's on my '84 Harris Flotebote Sunliner 240 pontoon, hanging on the engine box off the stern where it's exposed to deliver max volume to me and my guests. It has the above-water exhaust port, which is where most of the loud comes from. Any way to muffle this beastie? Many thanks for your help, PW
 
Got a hole eaten through the inner exhaust tube??? Just guessing.
What's your secret for more sensitive hearing with age? I'm just the opposite. Huh?
 
fdrgator: How would I figure out if the inner exhaust tube has a hole? Some disassembly required. Ah far as my hearing goes, this thing is so darn loud if would hurt a deaf man's ears!
 
Well something is wrong if it is that loud. I can't think of anything else it might be. My very similar 1984 35 isn't loud.
