I have a 1984 Bayliner with the volvo penta AQ125A. There is oil coming up threw the breather line into the carb. The rubber hose goes from the carb to a plastic black box bolted to the manifold. What is that box and what could be causing this? The plugs look good and engine runs great at high rpm. PLEASE HELP!!!

The box is an oil trap. Your problem may be excessive blow-by gas leaking from the cylinders into the crankcase. This could be caused mainly by worn, broken or seized piston rings, or by a score in the cylinder wall. If that is the case, you may have to rebuild your engine.

Well know I know what the box is a oil trap. Mine was not spitting oil but rather steam and it eats the water out of the cooler. Not sure what happened, would guess head gasket? Or what else can it be. This year started running warmer than last year!
