1976 Newport 30 MK2 engine overheating

Hi all,

I purchased this boat back in June so still getting used to it. My 2QM15 engine overheats every time I turn it back on after sailing. After giving it about a 15-20 minute break it starts and works fine. We’ve taken the engine apart and there doesn’t seem to be any blocks. Has anyone else experienced this issue? I’ve been told it’s probably an air bubble. I appreciate any insights

Hi Vanessa, few questions: How soon after startup is there an alarm? Do you then shut if off immediately? Can you verify temp with an infrared gun?
