1975 85HP johnson V4 no spark

It turns over with no problem. Even fired up again after sitting for 2 days.Tried it again and it takes and dies then backfired once. now it just turns over with no spark. any ideas will be highly appreciated.

Disconnect the black/yellow wire from the pack and see what happens.

Did that. Still no spark. Checked voltage over yellow and yellow/gray wires while starter was turning the motor and got 9V AC and 9.5V DC over red and grnd.Tried another stator today still no spark. how can one test the trigger? Thanks for the reply Boobie.

Without the proper test equipment, I would have to say you might have a bad power pack as a guess.

Youre guess seemed to be on the spot.I changed the powerpack with an old faulty one that was only firing on one bank.Lo and behold it ran on 2 cylinders.Thanks for the input and interrest shown.
