1974 85 hp not starting

I just transfered this engine on to a new boat it started fine on now i cant get it started it cranked a few time now nothing. the choke goes up and down but when i turn the key nadda. i didnt hear anything or see anything break it all looks to be how it was just nothing when i turn the key any ideas. p.s iam trying to start it with no prop and using clamps never tried it without the prop could that make a difference

yeah its a plug and three wires its all right. the engine isnt even trying to kick over or spark. the first few times i tryed it it just wasnt kicking over but it usally takes a few for it to start the first time but then all of a sudden there was nothing the choke clicks but the starter doesnt even try to go theres not even a noise(same guy as topic started)

Use booster cables directly to the starter to find out if starter is bad or solenoid and wiring is bad.
