Hi fellas,
motor works like a charm except for this dirty oily discharge that quickly accumulates at the base of the powerhead on the inside of the cowling. There seems to be two gaskets at base - is one more likely to cause this than the other? Parts diagram is linked below:

Gasket: crankcase to cover

Exhaust gaskets (parts 7 or 8)

I think same, parts 9 and 19. Maybe good to put both new gaskets. At the same time good to clean all water passages and check the exhaust cover for corrosion. Remember be very careful when cleaning off old-gasket material, because sealing surfaces must not damaged. It can take lot of time when cleaning away old burned gaskets, but take your time and please do not hurry.

Thanks fellas. I have ordered both and will be cautious when cleaning.

Update:
well, it’s hard to tell which gasket was leaking as they were both pretty oily. The exhaust cover bolts were pretty loose so it may just have been that but honestly hard to tell. 1.5hrs to replace. For anyone doing this be very careful with the copper water pipe. That thing will bend all over the place and can be easily snapped.
