1972 6HP Johnson Barn Find

I picked up a very nice looking 6hp Johnson the other day, twist grip markings are still bright, & hardly a mark in the starter pinion teeth. Also came with the original small steel tank & a 6 gallon tank, all for $100 CDN, that’s $65 USD.
The owner bought it, put new plugs in, couldn’t make it even bark, so put it in a corner with feed bag over it, & left it sit for the last 20 years.
It seemed a bit stiff, squirted some fogging oil in each jug, turns smooth now. Got 100 psi in the top & 92 in the bottom, which is pretty good for these units.
Needs a new starter cord, & mixture control knob. Probably an impeller, & thermostat.
Hope springs eternal, so I pulled it a few times, not even an inkling of a spark, pulled flywheel, no wonder he couldn’t make it run.
Racerone…your box of new coils is not yetempty I hope?

Typical for these motors.----Bonus when you find one with coils like that,-----Confirms that it is a low hrs motor.----
