1968 Evinrude 40hp 40853C engine oil questions

I recently rescued this motor from the woods and would like to see if I can't get her running again. My main question I have before I start is how does this motor get oil. Is it from pre mixed fuel, a separate oil tank, or does the engine have a sump? I have tried to look at the drawing but I am still stuck. If any one can answer my question I would very much appreciate that!

I would believe that a 1968 motor would be running premixed fuel and would not have a injector.

Ok, thank you! do you know what the proper ratio is?

Currently most are at about 50:1 mix

Need to do a complete evaluation of this motor.-------Likely ignition coils are cracked.-----Compression test to be done.------Check gear oil in lower unit.----Read a few books / manuals.------Find info at ----leroysramblings-----On outboard basics.

The 40 HP is just a bigger version of the 10 / 18 HP models.
