I ran into an overheating issue a couple weeks ago. I logged on to the site and did some searching and found a ton of information. Thank you. I removed the prop with the intent of checking the water pump impeller. Right there in plain view is the water shutter sitting in the exhaust.
We moved up on top and got access to the Exhaust Elbow where the shutter lives. One of the shutter brackets is gone. So I have been looking high and low for a replacement bracket. Well, these brackets are NLA and I have yet to find one anywhere.
My question here has anyone run into this issue and found a resolution? It seems to me that the bracket design was changed in the 1971/1972 model year. I think the Mercruiser design went to a ring ( pn 60391?) Did the shape of the Exhaust elbow change during that time? Just some questions I am kicking around.
Best Regards,
