1963 18HP Johnson Electric start

I am working on a 18 HP 1963 Johnson outboard. I want to install an electric starter. I bought a Evinrude 40 HP thinking the starters were the same. Of course the bracket is different as I suspected but all the reading I've done indicates the starters are the same. It looks pretty long and it'll be a tight fit if it will go in. As for the bracket I would like to get hold of a factory one but being a Millwright I can likely make one up. Any suggestions are welcome, Thanks

The starters are not the same.----Should be easy to get the correct one.----If in Canada--try ----evinrudeparts.ca-

Welcome to the forum. I have some late 50's here. The motors have been froze up from water infiltration. You need flywheel with ring gear too. They are really low hours too. Soaking with oil for a year but I guess they will be used for parts.
