" I have a 1989 2.3liter OMC Cobra I/O. I have been having problems with the engine stumbling on acceleration. I have cleaned the carb. and installed a rebuild kit. After much continued problem, I finally carried it to a marine repair shop. The mechanic again rebuilt my carb and it still had a stumble on accelleration. He went back into it again and determined that the accelerator pump was not delivering enough fuel to get the engine from low rpm over to high speed. After consulting with another mechanic, they determined that the carb. did not need both of the check balls in order to work properly. They removed the discharge check ball. The engine does now accellerate but I find it hard to believe that this is the correct repair. I am also having difficulty finding the correct float level and float drop settings. The model of the carb is 17086107. If anyone can help with this please respond. Thanks Ronnie Wetherington "
