Water from the front of the lower unit

" When testing my 83 Evinrude

" When testing my 83 Evinrude 50 hp, I noticed that when I started it, water flowed just fine. But, after stopping, there was water streaming from the front of the lower unit (closest to the boat). There is a female notch on the upper unit there that does not have the male mate on the lower unit. It is about a 1/16th of an inch, but water was flowing out of it. Is this something I should be worried about? Or is this normal?
Any opinions welcome for this newbie. ;-)

"Jason.... That's a normal

"Jason.... That's a normal drain area and is not anything to be concerned about. On a flushette, you'll also notice that the water pump pressure will cause water to shoot out in that forward direction.

Thank you! YOU are the reason this motor is running. I cannot tell you how grateful I am.

I am on my way to the water SOON ! !

I read an earlier posting from you on how to start the motor from the rear and when testing my plugs for spark, found out they had junk on the wires. Cleaned that and now she runs beautifully.

Thanks and come on down for fishin' anytime.
