Hi,

I'm considering to buy a boat and the owner claims the engine is a 2004 Mariner 90 hp ELPTO 4 stroke.

After doing some google'ing I found out that ELPTO stands for Electric start-Long shaft-Power trim-Oil injected.

Does 'oil injected' point to a 2 stroke or are there ELPTO 4 stroke models as well?

Lots of confusion on these motors today.------------------Look for a white plastic , seperate oil tank inside the cowling.----------Perhaps have him show you how he checks the oil with the dipstick.-------------Some folks think that if you use straight gas in the tank then it must be a 4-stroke.

Not that easy, I'm working offshore so I only saw pictures.

Do you know if ELPTO 4 stroke models exist?
